friend in ST Paul had bridge collapsing
family in Washington had a terrific storm and lost power for days and weeks
Richmond got hit by a hurricane a couple of years ago too. I guess Hawai'i just has a higher percentage of disaster exposure?

You don't just *have* volcanoes in your area: you live *on* a volcano!
Seattle & Richmond both have earthquakes.
Seattle + volcano that explode in a big way (St. Helen's) and volcano that would create a big-ass, high-speed mudslide (Rainier).
I was wondering today about you when they showed a big-assed storm headed for Hilo.
Hope it's not too bad/scary.
So far Flussie is letdown. No wind, drizzling and a gray sky. I was excited.
