Published

I've been having trouble getting to bed at a reasonable hour recently, often staying awake until 2 or 3 am. Most nights I try to play some video games until I'm tired. Last night I found my way back to wikihow. I discovered a poorly written Guide to preserving your privacy at an Internet Cafe.

I work at an Internet Cafe so I lent my experience and wrote the newer and improved guide. It's not incredible by any means but it's always fun to publish on the internet and it's a big improvement over the original guide.

Yes, the old guide was very, very bad.

"5. Use a private access. "

Nice.

But hey, the nature of a net cafe is that it is likely to attract the people with the least ability to protect themselves online (and the least likely to read your article).

There is an expert here, and it's YOU. You are in a position to protect your customers.

For example, your guide talks about preventing your personal information from being stored on the cafe's computers. The cafe could wipe the computer clean after each user. With a slick disk imaging setup, it can be done in ~20 minutes. (It helps if all the PCs are configured similarly).

Also, I fixed the summary on the article. :-)

If only I knew of a slick disk imaging setup to set up. Several of our computers are custom built machines with all different hardware. As we get closer to making them all similar an imaging solution will be more feasible.

But by all means, if you have a solution, other than WHS, please suggest!

You are smart.

Me, with computers, not so much.
